Abstract

The given article aimed to investigate the transition of professional language from everyday vocabulary to specialised terminology, prompted by progress in science, technology, and other fields. The study examined how general language is initially adapted to describe new concepts and processes, leading to the development of precise and discipline-specific terminology. Methods: to achieve this, the research employed a comparative analysis of linguistic and pragmatic frameworks, reviewing scholarly definitions and approaches to specialised language. The study also explored how specialised terminology is integrated into educational practices, particularly in the curricula of higher education. The results highlighted the key stages of linguistic specialisation, revealing that professional language becomes increasingly codified over time, with terms acquiring exact meanings within specific disciplines. These findings are significant in understanding the role of specialised language in both academic discourse and professional communication, offering insights into its impact on teaching and learning in higher education settings.
