This theoretical review investigated principles for evaluating language teaching materials to support learner-centered instruction. Drawing on academic literature, the study synthesized frameworks and perspectives to guide teachers in selecting teaching resources aligned with learners’ needs and curriculum goals. Six key principles emerged: learner centrality, contextual appropriateness, goal compatibility, skills–systems balance, flexibility, and fostering interaction and reflection. These findings highlighted the need for a holistic, adaptable evaluation process that prioritizes both pedagogy and communicative purpose. The study underscores the importance of reflective, theory-based materials evaluation and calls for further empirical research to validate these principles in diverse teaching contexts.References
