The Development of Theater Management in the Donetsk Region through the Lens of Crisis Cultural Planning

This study explores the evolution of theater management in the Donetsk region from 1991 to 2014, with a particular focus on crisis-oriented cultural planning as a central approach. It examines the impact of socio-political and economic upheavals, including military conflict and regional instability, on the development and sustainability of theatrical institutions. The analysis highlights management strategies, institutional responses to crises, and the adaptive use of resources by regional theaters. Drawing on cultural policy analysis and media culture theory, the paper offers insights into how crisis conditions shaped a distinctive model of theatrical resilience. The findings contribute to a broader understanding of post-Soviet cultural transformation and inform contemporary approaches to regional cultural planning. This experience underscores the importance of proactive management in the cultural sector, where institutions are not merely reactive to challenges but strategically prepared for them in advance.
