Digital Citizenship of Secondary School Students in Regular Basic Education

Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the development of digital citizenship in regular basic education students in a public educational institution in Lima. Studies and objective information show threats such as: the exposure of personal data, cyberbullying, invasion of privacy, misinformation and abuse of content; this is intensified by inadequate support to develop digital identity, insufficient strategies to address cyberbullying, lack of privacy guidelines in digital environments and little analysis on the use of social networks and the digital footprint. It was concluded that educational communities must actively participate to safeguard the digital identity of students, develop social skills and critical thinking in students, educating in the formation of security protocols for virtual interaction and developing leadership skills with a critical, responsible and decisive attitude for decision making.
